Replacement pump for Red Sea Skimmer

I got boned on CL, bought a red sea berlin x-2 skimmer for 35$, sounds too good to be true right? well it was. the pump doesnt work whatsoever, its not mechanical, definitely electrical. but that back cover(not the pump assembly, the back of it where the power cord goes.) is way too difficult to get off without breaking and god only knows how its sealed and how i can seal it again. anyway, is there another option for a pump? my LFS told me itd be about 120$ to replace the pump. im tryin not to blow 4 times what i spent on this thing. so does anyone have one theyre selling or and idea for a replacement? its going on a 55gal. thatll probably have a 29 gal refugium.

i think another member is selling a sicce 2500 pump that would run that skimmer pretty well.

hmm, i did a search, dont see anyone actively selling. ill keep looking. but that pump should work well? roughly what kinda power do i need to operate that skimmer properly.

Hey. I had a similar problem. I contacted Red Sea and they said the pump is $60 and can be ordered through them. Here's the information.

Call 888-733-7329 between 8:30am – 3:30pm central time Mon. – Fri. The pump is 60.00 plus shipping between 7.00 – 14.00 in the States.
