I am running a 1/4 hp current less than 2 years old and running all the time when its hot out if I shut it off the tank runs cooler because theres is no added heat in the fish room from the chiller .
I just cut the freon line from the chiller and added a fitting to recharge the system to see if that takes care of it when it ran the low side tubing (thicker of the 2) would freeze up- that is a sign that it needs to be recharged
Before you do anything make sure your evaporator is clean

I run a Current USA Prime Chiller 1/15hp (bought it off a MR member for real cheap :)) Been running great ever since - was like new when I got it. Did have to reroute the tubing and upgrade the sump pump - but it helped my tank in the end.

Since my overall equipment for my tank is low wattage and very low heat. The chiller barely turned on this summer. :eek:rangehat

1/4 hp current for my 93gal cube plus 30 gal sump has sometime problem and working over 30 minutes to drop temp from 78.3F to 77.9F...
The funny thing is chiller was tested and working well, I think my room temp is major problem cause all the time is over 78F.
