Newbie looking for help with filter selection etc.
I am planning on purchasing my first 90 gallon Aqueon brick type tank 48?x18?x24?. I can buy this tank with or without pre-drilled holes on the bottom to facilitate the Aqueon MegaFlow Accessory Kit for Overflow Aquariums. The tank will have a wooden cabinet beneath which will sit on wood parquet flooring. The filter can be installed in the wood cabinet below or on the other side of the wall behind the cabinet which happens to be my garage. The filter can use the predrilled holes if that is desirable or it can go over the top of the canopy in the rear of the tank.
I would like to keep active and colorful fish. I am considering keeping African cichlids unless you can tell me I will be missing out on another community of fish.
I am considering the following canister type filters:
Eheim Pro 3e electronic filters that can be computer managed.
Eheim 2075 or 2080
Marineland C-360
Fluval G3
It was also suggested by Aqueon that I consider an Aqueon sump type such as Aqueon All-Glass MegaFlow unit.
I would appreciate any advice you can offer me incorporating your experience in these selection matters. Also please feel free to weigh in on any canopies, hoods, lighting, bubble makers, auto feeders, heaters, friendly stores etc that you may like to recommend.
Please respond to the web site or directly to [email protected].
Thanks again
Jerry
