You should be fine using natural illumination on a seahorse fry tank. A couple of things I would keep an eye on, however - temps and nuisance algaes.
A tank sitting in direct sunlight can see significant temp swings. Also, a tank with high nutrient levels sitting in direct sunlight can quickly become an algae farm. :wink:
