i have :

blue flasher
pylei fairy
carpenter flasher
lubbock fairy
clown fairy

all in a 120g and they hardly ever flash. i'm sure the tank size has something to do w/ it. they have plenty of room and go about their business. they may chase one another around for a second or two(my guess is that they are just establishing dominance)

they will flash @ their species, other species and even reflection. funny my pylei flashes @ me when i wear a hat and get to the tank. beats me why he feels like he needs to put a show.

they definately flash more when they are surrounded by the same species. they have to prove they are the best male in the group.

they don't feel as threatened by other species so do don't flash as much.

In the most simple terms...it's like you flipped a switch on the fish and suddenly their colors are MUCH brighter. They use this ability to attract mates and intimidate other fish, or to show they like a particular hat...

yeah, as deanos said be carful of keeping a 6 line with other community fish. And ALLMOST ALL INVERTS LIKE SEXXY SHRIMP OR PISTOL SHRIMP....:headache:

im going to try with a net but my little guy is quick and alway waits for the food to come closer to the rocks where he just zips away..... what do you do with a fish trap put food inside?
