It's uncommon in the aquarium trade. I wouldn't consider it truly rare, but then again. A couple years ago, they disappeared from the aquarium scene for about 5 years; they're showing up irregularly now.

Got one from my LFS last week. I have only seen it venture out of the LR once, and that was about 2 days ago. Very pretty, but mean looking. The last time it venture out is to feed on prime reef.

We have one at my work right now. He is $125.

I like them but it is to much for a fish that only pokes his head out to see whats around him.

they were over collected about 5yers back but my lfs also just got one for the first time in 2 years i would consider the rare

The only one I have seen was for sale for $75, but ended up going into the store display tank instead. Here's a photo of that one.

We have 2 for $100 each at the store i work at. We've heard from our supplier that they have banned collection on them now. Would be a nice fish for commercial breeding! They're sooo cool!

Does anyone know where these fish are/were being collected? This may make finding them easier?

they're caught off the western coast of America (eg Baja California).
