if she is not pooping, then soon she will die. I don't know what you could possibly do for her if she has a blockage.

I very seriously doubt she is pregnant, as fish don't do that.

On the other hand, perhaps (likely) it is not her digestive system... It looks like her whole abdomen, not just her stomach. Perhaps something else is distended?..... she seems to be swimming fine, so not the swim bladder...

I found this....-egg impaction: if your fish is a female she may be looking fatter because she is filling with eggs and is getting ready to spawn. During this time she may develope an egg impaction which can be life-threatening. In this case there is not much you can do. However surgery performed by a piscine(fish) vet may save her.

watch her and let us know what happens!

Wait and see. don't get sad yet. It may resolve. One of the messages to take from my post is I can't be sure what it is - pm mike Marrone and ask him what he thinks it might be. He's good with fish!

Good luck.

How quickly did this happen? Was she markedly slimmer before this?
I see she is swimming in the video, has her behavior changed...as in sitting on the bottom of the tank or staying exclusively at the very top of the tank?

What do you feed?

If you can spare the time - feed the tank, see that she eats and then watch & wait. As fish have no stomach, then tend to poop not too long after eating. A description of what the poop looks like (fish can suffer from constipation) would be helpful.

One last thing - when was the last time you did a water change and what is your salinity?

I just did a water change the other day. She's been like this for a few months. Her i saw her poop a little while ago and it was off white. She used to be much slimmer, like regular damsels. She still eats and swims all over. I cant call it.

Was this after she ate? What did she eat.
Just off white - not almost clear?

...and your salinty :)

i cant check the salinity at the moment, but was not clear it was off white. I ran out of brine last week and i feed them Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flake Food.

Then I wouldn't worry much especially since it was not a sudden weight gain and the fish is acting normally.
Clear poop is often a sign of trouble, but what you are describing sounds fine.

Not sure if you vary the diet for the fish but usually best to use a 'staple' diet (meaning it contains balanced proteins, vitamins and such that the fish require) - like the flake you are using , or the pellets and alternate that with a meaty food such as mysis.
Brine is one of the least nutritional foods we can feed our fish, so best to avoid that unless it is live and just recently hatched so the yolk sac is still attached. IF you are almost exclusively feeding brine, chances are good the fish keeps eating & eating but is not getting real nurtrients from the food and has gained weight.

Do keep us updated on how the fish is doing!

The fish looks gravid to me. Even if there aren't any males, it's possible that they can start making and laying eggs, though I don't know much about damselfish reproduction. Either she'll lay them, or reabsorb them, or have a blockage and die.The first two are most likely. :)
