Hello guys. I just purchased a blueface angel last thursday. 5 inch adult angel and healthy and eats pellets in the store. He was eating on the first day but suddenly the next day he stopped eating up to now. He goes from one rock to another about 1 foot away.

I think he is scared of my purple tang who sometimes try to bully him. The tang is also 5 inches. a little bit smaller than him. I have 1 purple tang 5', 1 yellow tang 4', 1 naso tang 6', one black clownfish 3', tomato clown 3', 1 blue jaw trigger 5'. 1 dogface puffer 4'. everybody eats well. The tank is 220g. Need advice guys. thanks.

Just give it some time, Blue Face Angels can be some what shy and do take a while to get to start eating. Also you want to try giving it green stuff, like Nori sheets, Spirlina flake and Formula II.

This is why it's always better to Quarantine all you fish before you place them into you main tank. Outside of protecting your fish in the main tank, against any diseases that the new fish may have, it also give the new fish some down time and lets it settle in and starts eating before being moved into the main tank, where it can be stressed out by the other fish and new surroundings.

Thanks marrone, I quarantined all my fish but this time I did not. Simply because my quarantine tank had a leak on the side wednesday morning! And my heater is not working correctly and I have no extra. I promised to get the fish thursday night so I had no time to get a new tank and heater.

shall I keep the light off for a while? in my observation when the lights is on, he tends to go out more than when the light is off.

Maybe try soaking your food in Selcon and/or garlic. Also check often for a disease outbreak. Stressed out fish = weakened immune system, therefore making them more prone to a disease outbreak.

Not trying to worry you though. Maybe it's just adjusting to its new environment! :)

+1 on the nori sheets and buy some sponges and throw them in your tank - my blueface sometimes won't touch the regular food for days but he is always picking on the sponges and seaweed. HTH.
