I just wanted to let every one know about this. Hopefully, not only people from all over the state, but other states as well will attend. It is now less than 2 weeks away. Details are in the Raleigh Aquarium Society Forum located here:

The Marine Aquarium Society of North Carolina has pledged the remainder of its funds to help this and future events in NC to be a real success for the marine hobby.

Oh yeah, I've also heard there are going to be some free frags there!

I hope to see everyone there.

Well, the swap turned out pretty good, being that it was the first big general aquarium swap in our area. There weren't as many people trading corals as most of the frag swaps we have, but there were a few of us. Carmie did a great fragging demo for us and I helped a little. Everyone who came got to take home a free frag, so I know they were happy. It was definitely an African Cichlid and plant lover's paradise. Beautiful aquatic plants were going for $1-2 each. Hopefully next year we can have more reef folks there. The buyers who came definitely left with some really nice stuff. In an attempt just to get rid of the stuff I had left at the end, I sold one guy a large Hynophora, a decent blue digitata, a lunar wrasse, and a huge colony of orange digitata, all for $50. I know he was happy. Most of our local fish stores had displays as well, and I think they got good publicity out of it.

Our next big event will be our annual workshop and auction. This coming year will be our 24th annual event. Although a date has not been officially set, we usually shoot for the last weekend in February. Last year we had some really great marine speakers and some nice corals were sold at very reasonable prices in the auction. Anyone willing to make the trip should start thinking about making plans to come. I'll keep everyone posted as updates become available. With the merger of the Marine Aquarium Society of the Carolinas with RAS, this event should be bigger than ever. It will very likely be the biggest event of the year on the east coast.
