I have a small group of 5 in one of my 20 gallon tanks. I like them! I find they are not as shy as the cardinal tetras and harlequin rasboras I have in another tank.
I have 3 in my 10G, I like them, but I liked the color of cardinal tetra better. They are easy to feed as their mouth is bigger then the cardinal or neons.
the black neons I got for my ex were great. Cheaper in price and are very hardy. The Ph requirements for the blacks are alot easier than the acidy lovin neons! We kept ours with mollies and gouramis which have their water at around 7.1 to 7.2 Ph. The neons really do best at around 6.5 and you can see the difference in behavior and overall health! Get the blacks, you be happy you did.
Yup.. did get 4, 1 died, but the others are thriving. Very hardy eaters too. If they were bigger (like Bass size), they'd be a good game fish.
I'm going to have to post some more pics soon.
I used to have a group of like 3, I would reccomend a school of at least 4-5 since otherwise they kinda just park and sit there all day. They are more active in a school. Cool fish.
