Hi,

does anyone know of any good information sites about golden Rams
i know they are a domestic hybrid of the Blue Ram, but the colouration variations between the sexes at different times, obviously will be different.

I have sexed the pair I have as male and female, as the male is bigger and his dorsal fin, and pectural fins are longers than the smaller female, also the female has a more rounded tail find then the male, as his is more forked.

any help would be great.

thanks

things like what to feed them as they seems to chomp the tropical waffers the spit them out, and only eat a little of it? is that right? as a general ram question lol

but as for the golden, different colouration at different times means different things in blue rams, so i've read any way, and well they wont apply will they as these are golden, ecept for the tints in the skin, which look cool I may hassen to add :D

I have a small stock pile of daphina at the moment, so will try them maybe tomorrow, and if they dn't take to them very well, then maybe the worms are the way.

thanks

rams need meat, not algae

daphnia are mostly algae and shell-use bloodworms, blackworms, shrimp pellets, etc.

I have CoryDoras which I have read will take chopped up earth worm, will the Rams eat that as well? or is that a possible area for contamination of the water?

chopped , and whole, earthworm is one of the best foods for tropical fish-slit the worms, lengthwise, or let them sit for one day in sawdust, to allow them to void whatever soil they may still have in their gut.

hth :D

Rams are really good fish IMO..I like them alot...its annoying to see them sold as aggressive fish cichlids..I think cichlids beat the hell outta them...Ive had very limited experience with rams, the seem to be only semi aggressive like angel fish...Meaty foods is what to feed...corydoras are scavengers and will eat just about anything that gets to the bottom..

my mate Ram died, for no apparent reason? but the female is going strong.

she is in a community tank with:
3 cory's
1 rainbow shark
2 clown loach
2 tiger barbs
2 octocinclus vestitus
1 bulldog pleco
4 neon tetra
5 xray tetra
7 platies

and she is going strong.

Its funny to watch every now and again she gets annoyed by the Shark and she chases him, although he is like 6x her size lol...

but all in all she is a very pleasent addition to the tank.
