Hi,

I have been watching my fish for a few hours,
(while I'm programming an application for my Dissertation, just in case you think I'm just plain strange for watching them for hours :D)

Firstly,

The Neons:
Last night they started to chase one another, now 4 of the five fish seem to have taken areas of the tank as there own, as if one of the other neons swim into their space they chase them out?

There is a 5th neon who they seem to allow to swim freely in their areas.

what could this be?

Secondly,

The X-rays:

There seems to be two males in the shoal of 5 x-rays (from what I can tell from reading about them and who to sex them)
one of the 'male' fish keep swimming very close to one of the females, and they rub flanks for a time.

Is this an initiation for spawning? or just the 'male' being overly interested.

Thanks,
