You've GOT to get those plants out ASAP or you'll kill them. You can use rock salt, MUCH cheaper. I can't remember the formula for large volumes of water, I think it's at http://www.wetwebmedia.com

Good luck!

Thank you, it is not ich. I have loss more fish. i went to a specialists, they gave me medicated fish food, and medicated treatment for the water. I loss a fish yesterday, and one this morning. we were told orginally that the pond was 800 gallons, the specialist gave us a formula to determine the correct amount of water. It was 1500 gallons, so we put 9 pounds of salt in the pond, after we drained the pond, and i wash all the plants, and I removed all of the snails. The fish I currently loss had scales missing, their eyes were not cloudy, they have dark red marks, or they look bruised. I am down to 5 fish. Please let me know what information you need. I test the ph every morning, it was up to 8.0 I used Jungle Ph Down to bring it back down. thank you for your help. In the bottom of the pond are balls with little beige stuff in the center of it. I have been removing them as I see them.

dark red marks indicates hemorrhaging, possibly caused by a bacterial infection (internal),or secondary infection via wounds in the skin

medicated food is the way to go (metronidazole soaked koi sticks should do the trick ) -feed that EXCLUSIVELY for at least 7-10 days

i'd also treat the fish for flukes, a leading transfer agent for bacterial infection via the wounds they cause through fish's skin-praziquantel added to the water will cause flukes to drop off, for immediate alleviation, though it won't kill them off-and you'll need to increase aeration/circulation, as prazi will lower the available level of O2 in the water

do NOT mix prazi with any other med in the water column

g'luck

addendum:

gyrodactylus and dactolygyrus flukes may show as small whitish 'spots' that superficially resemble ich-i've treated many ornamental goldfish that landed from suppliers that were coated w/'em-dylox and prazi were both effective, but prazi is safer to use
