I was just there today, we just got home. This is a new, larger boat than the last time and I also have a dinghy with an outboard moter so we won't have to swim to shore.
I will check the tide tables for next week or the week after. The boat is booked for the weekends.
The Meditteranian restaurant is still there, I was there today.
I don't have any more problems with the Marina owner, he found out I was a Viet Nam Vet and now for some reason he likes me. Wierd.

I will probably go to that tide pool tomorrow so I will have a chance to check out if anything is there, the water is still a little cold.
I will take 4 people plus me and we need someone else to stay on the boat. Someone can bring a girlfriend, wife, significant other, etc.
I doubt 4 people can come on a weekday, I am retired so it does not matter to me and I go there every week.

I don't think you will find any tropicals yet, the water is much too cold, even in Jersey.
I think next thursday I have to go in for some eye muscle surgery but I had that before and I just can't go in the water for a few days after and this week is looking tough, I have a full boat all weekend and also one day during the week. I am trying to pick a day. The tide is the big problem because it must be dead low tide

I had my boat at the collection place today and it is loaded with grass shrimp.
I really need to look at those tide tables to organize a collection trip but life gets in the way. I will get to it though.
Paul, where do you collect? I go to a small river at Sands point and there are lots of juvenile fluke along with plenty of other fish, shrimp, and clams. Even found a huge mantis shrimp last time.

The next day that will work for collecting due to the tides is Wednesday July 6th. Low tide is at 9:55 am so I have to be there at least 9:00.
The tides only work out only every few weeks.
I know it is in the middle of the week but thats when I can go if anyone wants to come.

The only thing you can collect in the tide pool in the Sound is millions of grass shrimp, snails, fiddler crabs, horseshoe crabs, Japanese shore crabs, hermit crabs, tiny eels, tiny rock anemones, seaweed and amphipods.
For tropical fish you need to go out at the end of the summer on the south shore.
My boat is in Port Washington.

Long Island tropicals

Hey All! My name is Allen and live in Freeport, LI I catch many tropicals along the south shore. The most common are as follows: spiny porqupine puffers starting in mid July, with many threadfin lookdowns. By the middle of August I get dozens of dime sized spotfin butterflies, seahorses ( Erectus), occasional tiny tangs, green filefish, occasionally beautiful Bigeye conchfish, and assorted other stuff. I work three days a week so if anyone is feeling like pulling a 30 ft seine for a few hours, give me a shout in two weeks or so! [email protected]
