Hi everyone, I need a ~5lb piece of LR to seed 18lbs of marco rock i have in the tank now. I want something pretty. What lfs's have some nice LR?

Best LR in NYC?

Generally it will be cured and may have some life in it but may not have any coralline. So pick the shape you want. But if you want it with coraline algae then just keep in mind they it may not spread and in fact may disappear depending on what is going on in your tank. You may get lucky in the for sale forum here in MR.

I think most of their liverock is painted. At least that's what one of the workers told me when I was looking for the same thing.

Word to the wise: Fishtown's LR inventory in their invert system has tons of green planaria / flatworms.

Guy when picking livestock. But yes, their "purple" rock is the painted kind. I thought the same thing when I was shopping for a few pieces to seed the coraline in my tank, when I was talking the sales guy helping me pick, he told me it was painted. He said that a lot of their customers don't want to wait for the real coraline so they stock some painted rock.

Thanks for the info! I'll prob go up there anyways since I want rock from a reputable lfs. I'm trying to minimize 'bad' things getting into my tank
