im sure its in MR someplace, but after 20 min of looking with the "search function" i give up.... i recently read that 100% silicone is aquarium safe.

then i read the back of the GE 100% silicone i bought and it says not aquarium safe..... is this obvious or am just overtired and need to go to sleep? thanks for input

Honestly, just use all glass aquarium silicone If you want to be completely safe. Most lfs should carry it. If it says not safe, then do you want to take the chance?

I used the one that's suppose to be "aquarium safe"
GE 1 with out the mildew stuff and still the S$h&i@t turned yellow and all weird ...but nothing died ...but I will be changing everything around soon.

The 'Type I*" and "Type II*" that you can get in the big tubes at HD/Lowes is not aquarium safe. IF (and it's a big if) you can find an old tube of "Type I" (WITHOUT THE "*") it doesn't say "not for aquarium use" on the back. I found a tube at a mom-and-pop hardware store a while back, but haven't seen any since.

When I built my 58 I used Perfecto Silicone. Works great, but the working time is only about 5 minutes. You gotta work quick with that stuff!
