Damn hermit crab pulled a frag off my rack and down into the corner of my tank. It was very hard to get it. But my torch is on that side of the tank and it was Open almost as big as i have ever seen. I was reaching around and the inner part of my forearm was rubbing up against it and now it burns LOL

Yes I know, i should not have done that, or I should have worn gloves, or something else. I am a dummy!

Just wanted to share.

But this is the first time that this happened, i have touched it many times before. I guess i PISSED it off!!

That seems typical. Most people when they first touch torches/hammers, don't have any allergic reaction. Overtime, it seems you get more and more sensitive to them the more you touch them. The same with anemones. It was the same with me, when I first touched an anemone, it just feels sticky. Now my arm breaks out.

I would think that it is the opposite that when you first touch you have reaction, and then you build up a resistance to it.

I will just have to make sure that I stay away from it now, or if i have to, piss it off so that it closes up!

Oddly enough, it is very true that we become more sensitive to stings by creatures in our tanks over time. It also happens with salt, salt-creep.

I wish I could recall where I read about it recently, but it is a proven fact that you will become MORE reactive to this as time goes on. :(

I have gotten stung by hammers dozens times. U can get use to it but still itches like a mother. Don't scratch or it gets worst.
btw: your palm usually don't get sting cause the skin is thicker.

Weird, I don't think I ever had reactions to any kind of coral. We SHOULD always wear aqua gloves like those coralife ones that go to your arm pit. The less you put your hands in the tank the better. Our skin secretes all types of oils and we also get all kinds of germs/bacteria from the air and touching stuff throughout the day. I just really started using them. The only thing I HATE is when you go deep into the tank the glove sucks on to your skin and makes it really annoying as well as them being so thick that it is difficult to grab stuff. They are great for when you are fragging stuff like acans etc that get really slimey when you cut it.
