Maybe someone can let me know if this is a good idea or not. My ATO will not pump correctly the head is about 4'2" and the pump just wont get the water into the tank. I know that I can go and get a different pump like a dosing pump, but I really dont want to spend that much on a pump. I just spent 200 on a MP10. But what if i get 2 aqualifters and put them in sequence? One mid way and one at top of tank?

Do they just work on basic suction therefore the top pump will basically just help pull the water through the other pump???

I bought it jbj ato with aw 20 thru BRS

I talked to BRS rep- he said good for up to 30" higher. I have a biocube 29 with stand it has shelf so he recommended me to set it between, say water RO on bottom, set pump on shelf and route the tube to tank it works fine.

I also set timer with RKL twice in 24 hrs to turn jbj ato on cuz I'm paranoid :) (730am and 730pm)

Here's link with info- http://www.saltysupply.com/Tom-Aquatics-Aqua-Lifter-Dosing-Pum-p/oe1137.htm

hmmmmmm 30" is 30" just because you have the pump halfway between does not give you 30" above... From where the bottom of the reservoir is to the top of my tank is 49" so that is 19" higher. Not really going to work that well. I have the JBJ ato also. I went on vacation and when I came home the pump must have burned out because it did not pump anything. My skimmer was running dry and water level was almost as low as return pumps. Luckily I didn't lose anything. I may try to get 2 of them since they are cheap and see what happens.

I wish I could. I have just enough line to ge to the bottom.of the reservoir an d then just enough to get over top of tank. I am gonna prob pick up 2 pumps and sequence them. One on top of reservoir and one at top of tank. We will see what happens

Upsizing???? That will just make the water column heavier. If anything downsizing may help to reduce the amount of water in the line and lowering the weight of the water column. Tel me if I'm wrong but upsizing does not sound right
