thats where I go to get mines filled up!

Is this an old tank? I so, make sure you check the inspection date on the tank. If it is not up-to-date, he will not fill it. That's what happened to me and I never went back. You may need to leave it there for them to inspect it and I don't know whether they will offer you a tank temporarily to swap it out.

How can you find out the date on it to see if its old and do you have to wait til its empty to re fill it and i still dont how to tell when its empty

it's stamped right on the side. They stamp testing dates...and the tanks are good for about 3 years on steel tanks.. before the next rehydro.
Correct me if I am wrong though.

I brought my aluminum tank to American Compressed Gas and it was out of date but they sent it out for me for 20 bucks and got it rested and certified which took 2 weeks but it lasts 5 years so its worth the 20.

Honestly, get it retested only if you think it will be worth it to have that tank for another 5 years. Usually if its aluminum that's a simple yes but if its steel and showing moderate signs of rust I personally wouldn't keep it.
