I have been raising a new variant of the Black Photon Clownfish.

These fish are a hybrid between a Female Onyx Percula and Male ORA Midnight Black Ocellaris.

Here a thread that has shown pics and discussed them in the past.

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/photography/57140-sanjays-clowns-club-18.html

A more recent video of the current spawn that is roughly an 1"+ and are 5+ months old is here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6I14WEhDnY&feature=youtu.be

As you can see from the video several are starting to turn black, and will get a black over time while retaining an orange face, and possibly yellow under chest and yellow in some of the fins. There is going to be wide variability in what they will eventually turn into, so I cannot guarantee anything about their final coloration. The thread has a lot of pics as the previous ones developed and there is no reason to assume that these will develop any differently.

I am going to sell them for $120/pair, which is pretty good deal considering what they typically retail for. I will bring only ones that are requested. No extras. They will be presold and paid for before the swap. I will keep track of the requests in this thread.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Quick question how much for a single one? and how much will they be after the swap?

After the swap, they will only be available from Divers Den. I am not from the NY area, and will not be shipping. I am only selling a few locally at retail, the rest will be headed to Diver's Den.

Not sure what Diver's Den will list them for. Its up to them. But it will definitely be more than this. I have seen them list for $199 all they way to $399 for a more mature pair.

Just to keep it all simple, single will be $60, pair $120, so basically $60 each.

Sanjay,

Do you think i could put 2 of these in with 2 percularis babies? I would introduce all fish together into a solana, with no other fish.

Josh/my percularis will be about 4 months old at the time.

Are these actually paired up or are you just taking 2 from the group and they are all juvies....is my real question.

Thanks

Clown fish that are already in a tank by themselves and paired up will tend to be quite territorial. Unless your tank is rather large, I would not recommend even trying.

However if you introduce multiple juveniles in the tank at the same time, you can maintain a group or a trio.

These fish are not sexed yet, so creating a pair is rather easy. 2 juviniles with a size difference will result in a pair. Same size juvis will go through a little bit of power struggle until one dominates.

Does that matter if they all get put into a tank at once as juvies? My thinking is that the dominant fish will be the female.

Am i wrong in my thinking?

Nope.. you are right. If you put them in all together and they are still juvis, the largest one will be a female, the next largest the male and the the other 2 will hang around waiting to take their turn :)

I was more concerned with the larger ones picking on the smaller ones. Plus if you want to get them to pair up with the other pairs you need to separate them. If both of Sanjay's clowns are bigger then your smores you won't get them to pair up.

Sorry to disrupt this thread.
