Is there a rated flow through 4" and 7" filter socks that include the different micron models?
This would be the optimal since this rate will degrade until cleaned.
don't know the exact rate but i use a 7" 200 micron felt sock with 2x1" drains.
the 2x1" returns are driven by 2x mag drive 9.5's at about 3/4 throttle.
my guesstimate is 1000-1200 gph? the sock needs to be changed every 4-5 days.
i use a 1 1/2" drain with a mag 18 running i use a 7" sock and need to chang it out every 4 days or it will overflow, so i dont think the flow rates matter, you just need to make sure that when the are cloggfed that there is somewhere for the watewr to go and not out of the tank.. so as long as the water is going thru the sock and not out and over your fine.. if you have a new sock and its overflowing you have too much flow.. if not your good...
There are no flow rates for socks that I'm aware of...but obviously more flow with a smaller micron sock will need to be cleaned more often as well as socks filtering dirtier water so water quality is a factor too...
Yea good point, that would be difficult to relate a starting point.
Just wondering if I should use a 7" or a 4" in a 150 tank build with a 1" drain to sump.
