i dont want to tap off my return pump for a space issue. the tubing from a seperate pump i can wrap around the back of my stand. and put it in a diff chamber if i tapped off my return the tubing would be in my way
Keep in mind a throttled back pump can build heat on some pumps. If u tap off the return, u throttle back the reactor, and the excess goes back to the dt.

yea i know i just really dont want a secondary tubing going right over my sump from the chamber where my return sits, it may sound stupid but it would just be inconvenient and ugly looking lol. if i get a really small maxi jet then i shouldnt have to throttle it back and if so not much at all. that shouldnt cause any heat i would think.
Id rather the heat then an ugly tube going across my sump so ill give the extra pump a try but thanks for the recommendations guys. i am going to try to get a really small maxijet and go from their. i was originally getting a 1200 pump but i think that will be way to much and i prob would encounter a problem with what you guys are talking about.
i found phosphate test kits to be useless I through out a brand new salifert test kit along with 2 other brands they always read 0 even on a small tank that I over overfed and skipped on water changes someone tested my main tank that was supposedly 0 with a hanna meter and it was .03
any way you look at it phosphates are introduced into your system everyday through feeding and more. start at what it recommends you to do. thats what i would do.
anyway you look at it how long has your tank been setup and you never had any phosphate removal media so you def. have phosphates you need to get rid of.
yep i completely agree thats why i am running it without a test kit because why not? their is obv phosphates and running media without knowing my levels right away isn't going to do me any harm. i am going to get a test kit asap though. ill probably get this running tomorrow. thanks man
