filter sock makes skimmer overflow

this is the third time I am putting a skimmer sock on. The first two times they were new sock. so I dismissed the simmer overflowing. But now I am installing a washed sock and getting the same results. Anyone have an idea why tis is happening. Skimmer overflows for three days after install.

i get the same thing when i install a brand new sock or a just washed sock(only the fisrt 2 or 3 washes) dont know y but its gotta be something with the airation in the sock..

I had the same issue with new socks but once i washed them they were fine. do you machine wash them or hand wash? i machine wash and dry for like 3 days and they were fine after that.

try and wash the sock a couple days before hand.also rinse the sock out and ring it right before you put it in the tank

Not all socks are created equal. Are your socks polypropylene and stitched? Cheaper socks do yield lesser results.

When u replace sock let the skimmer sit for an hour or two before turning it on and it wont do that anymore, i figured that out myself a few months ago.

Check the microns of the socks. You are probably using a low micron(finer) sock try a higher micron maybe a 100 micron sock and the back pressure will stop causing the overflow....and of course wash it really good first I prefer hot water machine wash

very normal, throw your socks in the washer-machine with little bleach and they will be good to go with the skimmer.

This is what i do with warm water and let it dry for a couple of days.

I've been using mesh socks more now and like it better than the felt.

Thanks everyone. This sock had been washed and skimmer was only affected for a little over 2 hrs.
Yes Russ. Regular eshopps stitched socks.

i just soak new socks in bleach and water for a day and let air dry for several days...no more skimmer overflows

happened to me a few times i just turn the skimmer off while changing them then leave it off for a few hours
