Starting "Herbtana" today.

OK guys I'm starting Herbtana today on my 300 gallon, I'll ready dosed the tank 20 mins ago shut off uv,skimmer,and removed carbon. I did alot of google and this seems the best way to go. I'm going for a 10 day treatment, but it says it could go longer if need be. I got hammer,open brain,aussie elegance coral,clams,zoas,etc. I'll post the progress with this treatment and let you guys know what's going on. ( i'll post pictures if any problem comes up)

I would not medicate (herbal or not) in a reef tank at all.

It looks promising but most likely its snake oil! Its been tried and proven that the only REAL ways of getting rid of ich for good is hypo or copper.

That stuff really works...not snake oil like kick ick. I don't think you need to remove carbon I'm pretty sure just skimmer and UV

it is no snake oil and is reef safe, my sps have no problem when i use it

Not a good idea dudeski...they don't want you to use other medications, and I would question metronidazole being reef safe or not...in a QT tank, that stuff is great though. Run carbon in the tank with herbtana tho

You can leave the carbon. Make sure you do the full 10 days. I have used it before and it worked for me.

It says it's herbal but smells like acid.

Im not dosing the tank with this, I just sprinkle a bit on the food.

Not really the case, Herbtana "builds" a wall on the fish body so that ich can't attached to the fish there for the ich "starves" to death. Herbtana doesn't kill the Ich, but rather is the "cause" of it's death, and it has nothing to do with boosting the immune system.

Also, the same case is made for garlic, and a number of other products that don't work either. The problem is the ich attack the gills and eyes, the white spots that you see coming out on the fish are the final part of the cycle. In the end all of these products don't kill the ich, and if they don't then they don't work.

I guess you missed this part, which is the important part, as it's what the product actually does, or is suppose to do:

This plays with the second paragraph from what I posted.

So is that the reason why it works? so the ich dont die? it just makes the fish "immune sytem" stronger? so the fish out lives the bacteria?
