Lighting for a 220 gallon tank

Hey all i am upgrading from a 55 gallon tank to a 220 gallon tank. I was going to purchase 4-36inch marineland reef capable lights for it but idk if i like how they almost seem like a spot light or beems instead of lighting the entire tank. I am used to 4 t5 bulbs for my 55 gallon. Does anyone know a better lighting for a 220 gallon tank thats bright but preferably not that expensive. It doesnt need to be reef capable but i wouldnt mind? please help me i need to return these marineland soon if doing so.

What are the dimensions of the tank? What do you plan on keeping in that tank? I've always used metal halide/VHO combo and recently transitioned to an Ecotech radion LED setup and will never switch to any other setup ever! You get the amazing shimmer effect of metal halides, with no heat output and the level of customization is infinite.

the tank is 72x24x30 but how many of those leds would i need and how much did u pay for it

You would need 3, they cost 750 per unit, but so worth it in my opinion. I have 2 over my 70, but they aren't running at 100%

You can always go with 4 ai sol led lights each fixture is a output of 250 watts but it runs on 75 wattage on the ai sol

Depending on what you want to keep will determine what lighting you should go with. I can tell you those Marineland units would be barely adequate for a FOWLR setup and useless on a mixed reef setup. If you must go LED, than the Radions are very nice but honestly don't think 3 would cover well enough unless you were doing a softie tank only. I would consider 4 for a mixed reef/ sps setup. The AI are also very good but again you would need 4-6 depending on what you want to keep.
If heat/electricity are not a large concern I would still go MH/T5 or MH/VHO. Depending on what you keep 3 250w or 3 400w w actinic supplementation is still the best way to go in a lot of people's opinion.

I have three Apollo reef LEDs over my 220 reef and have had no problems. In fact the tank looks great. Each unit was $400 plus shipping and handling. You may also look into setting up a controller for the light so you can control brightness. Good luck.

The Radions are rated for a 24*24 coverage, so I think you should be good.
