Vortech Pumps suggestion

Hi guys, Im gonna build a 90 or 120 gallon (not sure yet but the tank will be 48" long) and was wondering if 2 MP40's will be overkill on a 4 feet long tank? What do you guys think? I have 2 fairly new MP10's that I was gonna sell. Should I use those? Thanks in advance.

I have 2 mp40s on a 75g and love it. Have them running about 60%. Great water movement. Used to have only 1 but felt that one side wasn't getting the same flow so added a 2nd

go with the 2 mp 40. I have 2 mp 60 on my 180 and couldn't be happier

Thanks, what setting are you using? are they synced? Also, how high did you position then in your tank?

Mp10/40

If the glass on your 4ft tank is 1/2inch, I don't think the wet/dry sides of the MP10's would "connect". Might want to double check with EcoTech.

I have 3 mp40 wes's on my 4 ft 120, 1 on back wall center. 1 on each side, i run them on ntm(purple)...corals couldn't be happier

I run 1 mp40 on my 75 and think that it is fine. But I also run a powerful return pump that takes care of the flow on one side. The MP40 takes care of the other side. So I am happy with only 1.

if you arent planning on corals in the future i would skip the MP40 and go with koralias.

Thats what I was thinking. I have to Koralias ( I believe in the range of 750gph or something like that) I just dont want them to be overkill. Dont want the fish hiding behind the rocks all the time. I like the Vortech before you can dial them down. Thanks

well you can sell the 750s you have now and get a smaller size for a FRACTION of what 2 vortechs will cost. 2 vortech 900 2 smaller koralias less then 100

Honestly For a FOWLR tank, an mp40 will be overkill IMO. Not necessarily the flow but the cost.. koralias or non-controllable Tunzes will be much cheaper.

I would just give the 2 mp10s a shot for a FOWLR they should be fine if there not then upgrade.

Question still remains. Will the mp-10's hold to the glass.

I have a 120 with one mp40 and one mp10,one on each side and the flow is amazing.(also have 4 returns)
They are synced the mp10 is on full and the mp40 is a little over half.
That said for a fish only I think the 2 mp10's would be fine.

I'd like to see pictures of a MP10 holding on to anything thicker than 3/8" glass. I have never seen it work effectively on a tank larger than 65g.
