If you have the budget, i would go with vega. And if you are doing heavy sps, i would go with two units. But like Ken said, one unit should be enough. I would start with one unit, and you can always get additional units if you feel you need more lights.

I have the Radion, been able to control the color is nice!

why do you say neither? I think I saw you were selling acans leds yesterday. You honestly believe that the acans are better than the new vegas?

just curious as to your opinion. I have seen acans and they are beautiful lights that penetrate very deep but dont see how they can compete with a brand new full spectrum led that AI is putting out to compete with the radion.

Anyway Vigilente to get back on topic. Although you pm me first, another buyer is pending right now to pick up the AI Sols.

Not to get this thread too far off topic...

I said neither to a make a quick post. It depends what you're looking to do. I wanted a sleek fixture with mounting legs. Back when i bought the Acan 104, it was the only option. Now, the Maxspect Razor is out (obviously copycat style) and has updated LED colors. That said, I just downsized to a 60g and went with a new 18" Acan 600 and could not be happier. They have all the features of the popular lights including lightning mode, lunar cycle, pre-programs, demo mode, and Apex compatibility. So yes, I do think they can compete. If you're looking for colored LEDs, go with their Prism. IMO colored LEDs are overrated, especially red and green. The only downside to the Acans is that you can't swap out LEDs or optics yourself.

one thing that they dont have is the sweeping cloud and lightning also.. Which both the sols and the vega will have when the new contoller comes out.

i have a 92 corner. I want to start growing SPS. So do i need 2 units of each or 3 of one and 2 of the other? I just want to start pricing. So are the Vegas truely competition for the radions? or are there other companies that are worth looking into? Thank all of you for your input.

Let's be real, do those modes do anything for your coral or fish. The answer is, most likely not. Not sure if it has been tested or not butI don't see how it would be of any benefit to your coral or fish. Furthermore, I would actually think it would bring on stress to fish that are used to being in captivity and stress in captivity is probably much different than stress in nature.

All in all, this lightning and sweeping cloud modes are all just a marketing feature not an actual, USEFUL feature that will do anything for your livestock. It's just something so can say 'Hey look what my fixture can do', nothing else.

As mentioned earlier, I also don't believe much in those full spectrum lights, there just don't seem like there are enough bulbs to actually make a difference in anything besides color to the naked eye.

I did like the AIs for one reason, because they're made in the US. Other than that I don't find them to be built any better than any of the other LED fixtures available. I personally have Pacific Sun LEDs and I have had Acan LEDs as well. I have seen my friends AI Sol Blue and I can tell you that build quality between the two is no comparison. The non-AI fixtures are solid fixtures, built like tanks and they're mainly metal on the outside, either aluminum or anodized steel which I personally find to be much better than a cheap looking plastic housing from AI.

Agree and disagree it mostly is used to show off look at wat my lights can do .. But like u said it was never tested.. If thats the case then y get vortech to make waves in the water .. Its all about the natural environment..

I mean Vortechs are totally different though, flow is necessary for coral growth and well being. Of course it does not need to be done with Vortechs but they are the most efficient and best engireed powerheads out there so far

It was just a reference on the vortech i have them my self as well. Just all new products every 1 will stick to the olds stuff, just like when the leds came out every 1 said they will not grow corals as well. In this hobby you will meet 20 people and do things 20 differnt ways and like there set up there way.. Its all the matter of what u like and what works with ur ways..
