Hi!
This is my first post. Not sure how this works. I just took the lighting poll and was surprised to find out that more than 50% are already using LED. I would like to make the switch. I have an over five year old 90 gallon tank that has lots of live rock, two clownfish, some cleaner shrimp, mushrooms and lots of branching coral (I think it looks like frogspawn). I have three 96 watt bulbs over the tank- one 10,000K, one actinic and one 50-50.
Does anyone have any suggestion for what would be the equivalent system to get for LED? I used to use metal halide lamps that hang as pendants. I like the hanging kind of system best. Can anyone recommend manufacturers that make these kinds of units and can you point me to a thread or some literature that tells me how to make a smooth transition.
Also, I would love to have clams in my tank as well. The kind with the crazy purple mantle. Are they compatible with the LED set up that I should use for my existing tank?
And finally I'm brand new to this. If anyone is kind enough to answer or to point me in the right direction, how will I know where to look?
Thanks,
Byron
