I have been through the following tanks in this order

1. 14G biocube
2. 135 G ocean 72 x 18 x 25
3. 180 gallon 72 x 24 x 25
4. RSM 130D - the nano
5. 75g standard 48 x 18 x 21
6. Deep Blue 60g frag tank - 48 x 24 x 12
7. 180 gallon 72 x 24 x 25.

Out of all those I would never go smaller than a 180 gallon again if I had the room for it. The smallest I'd ever do besides a 180 is a 120 gallon. Not having 24 inches front to back SUCKS!.

When I get a place of my own I want to do a 96 x 30 x 21 tank and call it a day. But if I am unable to do a 180 I will always default to a 120.

Hope this helps!

Oh and btw nanos are cute for bedrooms and small apartments, but in a large houses eh. Nanos are just as much work if not more than a larger tank. My new setup is a fowlr and to do a water change takes less than 20 minutes without me having to carry anything!

I was planning to get a 120 because of the depth but settled for a 75 instead. One thing I didn't like about the 120 is the height because if I ever need to reach the bottom of tank I would need a step ladder. But you can't go wrong with a 120. Does give you more options.
