I have a 125 mixed reef my battery backup is out! I'm assuming that my corals will OUTLAST my fish? The only thing I've noticed is a cleaner shrimp dead on bottom of my tank.
My bioload is heavy lots of corals Lps sps 6 decent sized fish lots of inverts
What will last and how long?
Thanks

what you should do is get big cup scoop amount of water , lift it high about 12" then drop the water slowly , do that for 5 to 10 minutes every 2 to 3h ours .

Sorry to hear.. unfortunately these are those times when a battery air pump and some type of back up like a UPS would have helped.
But definitely manually try and agitate the water so that there is oxygen in the tank for your remaining critters.

I was thinking about possible ways to agitate the surface last night. With that size tank could you maybe also balance a rubbermaid bucket or even a gallon jug on the corners, put a few holes, start with a pin thickness in the side near the bottom and let the water flow out that way?

Not going to last too long but could help keep water moving.

For heating do you have any glass jugs you could fill with water heated on a gas stove?

How long can my corals last without lighting ,.. ???? My temp is at 75 right now , kept boiling the tank water , pour it back very slowly ., and also running a small heater and airpump thru my car inverter

My guess is many days, I don't think light for the corals will be a big problem unless they are off for a week.
I am no expert though you might want to ask a more seasoned reefer

I ended up buying a charged battery backup with a meter from a computer specialty store cost me $500.00 but It was worth it!
For $800.00 I could have gotten a home generator! Lol
But I was desperate
Power is still out going on 20 hrs
Glad I did it
