Great thread, thanks for starting it. I've been so depressed this week. Not just my losses but also a fellow reefing buddy from the shore who dropped off his entire coral collection after being evacuated in the last minute. His losses were greater because of the long drive to my place and the quick tank transfer. Broke my heart to pull some of his pieces out of the buckets dead before even adding to my tank. Not to mention after my lights went out for 3 days (even more losses). Even with the electricity back on I'm fighting to keep the rest alive, along with my beautiful fish (which are suffering with ick). Thanks again and I only wish I could have helped others that are in this situation.

This is my first time on mr since the storm and I am in awe if the generosity in the threads I have read through.
I am still without power. My tank was down to 61 degrees last night.
My brother got power and I transferred my livestock in 2 buckets to his house. All the fish survived and a few corals too.
Keep your chins up MR.
Thanks to SWIB for this thread.

Well said Eddie!

My heart, thoughts and prayers out to all who have been affected...

While I was watching ch. 4 news last night...I had the kid's in my ear...was talking to a few people online and texting on my phone...glanced up and said "Oh sh*t Bionic 2 part bottles...there's a reefer...and just as quickly as that excitement came...it went b/c it was inside of a destroyed home. :(

You guys are all welcome for this thread , it's dedicated to all of you and your struggles during and after the storm, I'm very happy to see that everyone put up a great fight during this war with Mother Nature, I'm hoping to see everyone reply to this thread with a thread about rebuilding the reefs and livestock they lost, I love all the effort you fellow reefers put into this hobby , thank you all for making his thread possible through your undying devotion to the saltwater world , if anyone needs help please post it up and let's sew the fabric of mr back together again!

Thank you Kathy , it was just my thoughts during a hard storm, I don't recall being in so much of a stressed mental period since 9-11 it's hard to see so many people lose reefs and homes and lives , sometimes life can be cruel but I still love it , glad your ok.

Well said, this is my first thread I saw after getting power back. Unfortunately my entire tank was wiped out but on the plus side I now have an excuse to get a bigger tank (and definitely need to be prepared for next time) :)

That statement really sums up a lot of what I been feeling during and after Sandy...with people unable to reach loved ones and others struggling to keep their salty friends going through this crisis. The inconvenience of gas lines and pain in the a** commuting are nothing compared to the sense of dread and helplessness you feel when the next tank went down and another guy on the pit of despair with no way to get gas or one more pair of D batteries. I didn't know when I'd felt that way before till you said that, but I knew it was something I'd been through before. I've only met a few people from this forum but definitely feel more connected as we battled through this.

I think the lessons learned are huge, hopefully the next round, people will remember. Keep that eBay light fixture or older skimmer...do an extra water change! At this point I would put a generator AND a few gas containers as a requirement for this hobby, along with a good enough inverter to run your heater, return and pumps, along with batteries. It's so easy to say its just fish, but you don't realize the investment we've all made in each one of them through quarantine and hoping they get along, and learning their behaviors, until they are gone or going. Let alone those fuzzy sticks that grow sooo damn slow!

Anyway, we've all learned something here, but the main thing I learned is that MR has a lot of people ready to step up to the plate and help those in need, and not just get the best lowball price on used equipment! This forum got me through those hours when my power was out, and through the week that followed (in what I joked at work was PSTD...get it, post sandy?). Thank you to those that stepped up, my prayers are with those who took losses, and my cheers to those that battled through!

Thank you MR!
