Hurrican Sandy results in total loss.

Hi all.
Exactly a week ago I returned from a 10 day vacation. I had a strong feeling that something would be wrong with my tank since we lost power on Monday right after Hurrican Sandy hit NYC. When I came home my tank was very dark and cloudy and it was just too painful to see all my fish at the bottom of the tank and all my corals dead. When I looked at the water temp it read 48 degrees. I have been in the hobby (saltwater reef) for about 5 plus years. A week ago had marked my end to this hobby. I have invested over 4k into my tank and lots and lots of time spent every week maintaining it. Those that have known or seen my tank know that it was a basic setup (sumpless) but I was able to keep any coral with my setup. My tank was a reef tank filled with Softies, LPS and SPS. Sad to say but I have finally come to the time of giving up and letting this hobby go. Not easy to even write these couple of words (trust me it took me a week to finally put this together). It was a great pleasure meeting everyone and trading corals with. Good bye everyone.

I do not know who you are. I have never exchanged any messages with you either. I totally understand what you are going through. However, I truly and honestly believe that veterans like you MUST stay in the hobby.

No one can control mother nature. It is bad luck and bad timing. I know you took a week to post this, but if you could reconsider, do so.

Hope you stay.

hey marki it sucks man, ive lost a freakin tank to hairspray back in the day :arg: but in the end its your decision to leave and you will do what you gotta do. You could prob. use the break, but i have a feeling you will be back :sad2:
