return pump restriction question

I'm trying to figure out how much pressure I would lose if I have a 1" external bulk head and then I reduced it down to 3/4" for the intake of the return pump. On the way up to the DT the 3/4" outlet would switch to a 1" pvc pipe. It would be easier if my return pump has a 1" inlet/outlet but it doesn't. Does it matter?

No pictures yet because I haven't ordered the pump yet. Basically my sump will have a 1" bulkhead for my external return pump. I want to know if I will lose alot of pressure by reducing the 1" pvc pipe to 3/4" so it can fit on the inlet of the pump. Vice versa on the outlet of the pump. Hope this clarifies it.

what size is intake and output of pump

3/4 inch

If the intake of the pump is 3/4" then you'll be fine reducing it from 1" to 3/4". That's all the pump needs since that's the size inlet the manufacturer put on it.

Head pressure is measured on the outlet side only. If pumping up against gravity it's head loss you suffer. If pumping downgrade with gravity you get head gain to where you get more gph.
