take it out and cut into cubes and freeze

My green wrasse only eats frozen mysis and live foods, what does yours eat?

I like cyclopeeze flakes, but Drsfoster is always on backorder for that item.

My fish love the formula 1 flakes and pellets.

Mine eats pellets he is a pig but I got him from dubs so go figure. The anthias I just got and were getting frozen at the store but were very curious about the pellets so I think they will come around.

I used to make batches of gumbo and store in flats in the freezer, but I realized I was limiting myself to one source of product for weeks at a time; any unwanted nutrients, PO4, heavy metals, or other toxins would be added over and over again. Now I buy one or two clams, squids, fresh frozen shrimp... and use a small grater to shave off enough for a couple days. I shuck the clams and freeze them first, freeze the squid... My grater is small and fits mostly in a sandwich bag and the frozen sea foods shave easily. I think I would have a much easier time getting fish like anthias and other planktivors on pellets if a pellet like NLS was more neutrally buoyant.

People seafood contains sulfates and phosphates. Be careful. especially with shrimp.

Those two chemicals increase shelf life of these foods but can add some nasty stuff to your tank and inhabitants

Whats the word on flakes though? I ran out of pellets before and switched to flakes and it caused an algae outbreak. My feed timers is only for 5 minutes but maybe I should increase it. I have a weir too so anything left on the surface is going into the sump.

i no longer use an automatic feeder. i sat and watch the feeder when i was testing it; most of the floating food ended up in the filter sock. i only use it when i'm away for a few days and only with sinking pellets.

right now i feed only once a day, when i get home from work, and the fishes are fat and healthy. i do leave a sheet of nori on the clip for the tangs to pick on during the day.
