generally they don't but can be taught to do so. i use the net breeder to train my mandarin. starting with just pods to more pellets and less pods, once he consistently eats both pods and pellets, i let him loose in the tank. after a year of him thriving, i got him a mate and he taught her to eat pellets.
even though they eat pellets, i think they still need a good population of pods to help sustaining them long term. they seem to be hunting pods all day long and eat the pellets when they get the chance. if housed with more aggressive eater which is pretty much everything even the cleaner shrimp, they aren't quick enough to get to the pellets. the glass jar is a good idea, i just may try that just to see.

LOL, the thread got derailed, sorry.

How about a pufferfish? my wife and i went snorkeling in mexico years ago and a pufferfish would follow us everywhere we swam.

A sand shifting goby. Its cool to watch the sand come out of their gills.
