Hi I have finished my cycle 10 days ago and I purchased a cleanup crew. Basicly the tank has been testing 0 in ammonia 0 in nitrite 0 in nitrate. I would love to go get a coral or 2 and some clownfish. Please shared your thoughts, is it too soon ? i am a new reefer and i wanna do it the right way. Thanks
Sal

Patience patience patience is the key. A clean up crew? They will have no food. When i first started I waited 3-4 weeks and put in 2 damsels then waited another 2 weeks before putting my good fish. Then again. This was over 12 years ago. Not sure if people start differently now. Especially with all this live bacteria in a bottle.

A hardy coral might be ok. I wouldn't risk a fish yet wait at least another week IMO

Keep feeding that bacteria with ammonia to keep it happy in the mean time. Or get a damsel if your really impatient

Tell us what you did to reach this point. It is more than likely good to go, but if you want some advice we will need some info about the tank. Did ou add a shrimp to start cycle, live sand from another tank or rock, or something else
A cuc is good idea if you didn't already I introduce one. I would say no to damsel unless you want one in your tank, it may require you to rip apart your tank to remove later on

+1 with thirty6. If your tank had ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and is reading 0 now, chances are likely your cycle is complete. After cycling a new tank, I usually add a small cleaning crew first. You do need to feed them a small amount of food until you've added fish.

The most important thing is to add livestock gradually. Otherwise, you'll start a new cycle in the tank. This happens when the amount of waste in the tank is more than the biological filtration can break down.

It's an IM nuvo 38. I did start it with a shrimp on June 10. I tested water daily cause I wanted too learn about the cycle. I have live sand and live rock that helped me out a lot. As soon as my readings were at 0 I waited 6 days and got a cuc. Snails, hermit crabs, sand snifters an emerald crab and a blood shrimp.
