Anyone running one of these controllers? I'll be ordering one and was just seeing if anyone already has a unit and if you do, if it's a single or a dual....

I have the dual stage controller and it has worked flawlessly for several years now. My controller turns on the heaters if/when the temp drops to 77 and turns them off again at 78. It turns on the fans (two blowing across the tank surface and one blowing into the sump) when the temp reaches 79 and turns them off if/when it drops back to 78. This time of year my fans run close to 24/7 though and the tank hovers between 80-83.
BTW I've had enough heaters fail over the years to trust my tank to one of the cheap thermostats that are built into a $30-40 heater. A $100 bucks or so for a quality controller (Ranco's have been used in the HVAC industry for years and have a proven reliability) is a no-brainer for a reef tank.
Pretty much the best and most reliable controller out there!!! With the extreme temperature swings we have been experiancing I recommend the dual controller unless you live in a fully climate controlled home.
nice to hear your insight about them....my friend has a dual one and he says it's the shiznig!:tongue1: I can't wait to get mine as well.
There are some that have an option to have the probe encased in titanium (not a heater though, just casing) and some that are engulfed in silicone to make the probes safe to submerge.
I'm going to use a titanium heater with it and I figured why not have the dual just incase, the fishroom has an AC running year round. I could employ fans down the line if needed.....
May I badger you guys to take some quick pics of yours set up and operating?
I'm actually passing on one. I'm going with an aquacontroller JR. It's only a hundred or so more and will also control your lights, powerheads for waves, ect.
