Hey guys, I am planning to build purigen reactor and my question is if i use magnetic stirrer with very low speed and stirr the purigen at very very slow speed would it still work? going this route will be much simple easy design..

...it will still work, but it's not necesssary to use a stirrer as long as water is able to flow threw it so any reactor would work...even in a mesh bag works, but it's not as effecient that way.

I have stirrer that i am not using i was going to just use this and built simple reactor out of pvc pipe and some clear acrylic tube that i have laying arrond and i can just make it tumble with slow movement and use this with syphon from the tank to the sump with small air line tubing.

The problem is purigen breaks down easily. Tumbling or stirring is not recommended on their website.
Just put it in a Mesh bag in a high flow area.

I thought it has to be tumbling all the reactors I saw the media was tumbling. ..

Phosban. (Ground ferric oxide) needs to tumble. According to seachems website. Movement of purigen will cause the media to break down. Purigen can be recharged by soaking in a 10-1 bleach solution. But only if it's still there. Lol

I ran it in a reactor, but at a very slow flow..it barely moved. I dont recommend re charging it just safer to get it new......even though they say you can....because any trace of bleach will cause a crash...
