doing a little research I found this Reef Safe Ich Treatment there are some bad reviews and some good reviews as usual

you guys know some times is very hard to catch a fish in a reef tank my royal gramma and blue hippo has developed ich :grumpy:

I feed my fish with Seachem Garlic Guard and Kent Garlic Xtreme that doesn't seem to be the best solution to fight ich :headache:

I will like to hear your opinion, how will you fight ich without taking the fish out to a QT

Snakes oil. Your best bet is to keep the lights off and slowly drop the salinity and try to keep your fish stress free if possible. The kick ich should be reef safe based in my experience, but will not give you what they advertise. Monitor your ph when using this product.

I used Kich-Ich 20years ago it never worked. It only kill free floating ich. I just posted about ich outbreaks this time of year. Anyway this work for me sometimes. Get the tank water to 82 degrees keep the fish well feed, use polyfiler pads, rinse in fresh water and reuse daily. And make up water to do 30% water change weekly.

I woke up hungover as all hell 2 months ago and realized my rare clowns had ICH. What does a hungover person do...go to the place of convenience....Petco Picked up Kordon ICH Attack. Not only did it work but it may actually be the most effective additive I've ever put in my tank. Sometimes I wonder if all we are buying is tap water with a fish on the bottle. One clown actually got ICH again yesterday...not a single worry on my end :)

I'm assuming it works because it's a copper based treatment.,and if used correctly will kill the ick paresite

I think Dre's point was how would Vio know if Coppersafe works on Ich if he was using it in a QT tank before he knew if the fish had ich or not.

Regarding Kick-Ick... it's garbage. It is made of cayenne pepper and the point of the product is to increase the slime-coat of the fish (by irritating the fish) so they might possibly repel ich from attaching to the fish.

To get rid of Ich you must kill the ich parasite. That can ONLY be done through the use of copper (at the proper level for approx. 10 weeks) in a QT tank, or through the use of hyposalanity treatment.

So how do you know if it work on ich?

1. It says it on the box.
2. Some fish are tougher than others.
3. Sometimes you see the white small dots, sometimes you see the fish scratching the rocks.
4. Some fish get Ick, just from stress.
5. To make sure the fish is not contaminated I gave him the treatment
anyway.
6. You have to remove the fish from the reef tank when you use Coppersafe.
7. I like this product, because you don't have to increase the temperature or play with the salinity. And it really works.

POSITIVE!
I been using coppersafe for a long time and is the best product out there to fight ich
I do the same as vio does when I get a new fish I QT the fish with coppersafe for 45 days because it doesn't only attack ich but any parasites on the fish

my point for this thread was to tread ich on a reef tank I mean without taking out the fish from DT to QT because sometimes is a P.I.T.A. to catch a fish , well today I've catch my royal gramma and the hippo tang will be easier I think

I don't want to risk my reef I'm gonna take out those fish ASAP and will do what I always do , coppersafe :)

You right, i shut be more clear, but i don't think is anything to kill just ick and not to affect or damage the reef life, best think is to remove the fish, but i am sure u now that, is NOT a pleasure, i got 150 gal. tank 200 lb. of rocks and i did few times, take me all day.:grumpy:

If you didn't take my advice earlier, the only thing i would tell you is to read up on the ich parasite. You'll have a better understand of what you're dealing with. You have to know your enemy. When my fish get ich, although my fish haven't got ich in a long time i don't worry. Because i know what to do sometimes i do nothing. There are parasites out there that are much worse.
