Glass cover on tank and lighting

Under my canopy, I've got this glass cover 4'x2' with 2 little doors for feeding that I think reflects more light than anything. I've got 4 t5 with a 48" led strip in the middle. The glass doesn't stay clear, can I keep this off? Will it be bad for the lights? The T5s are about 4-6 inch above the water and the LED is like 2-4.

I would remove the glass cover unless there is excessive splashing onto your lights without it. Even then, I would adjust the height of the lights and then remove the glass. Those things are a pain to clean. Also, if you are using them to keep any fish from carpet surfing I would suggest building a screen top to replace the glass.

Lose the glass top and if you need to keep fish and critter in the tank you can use egg crate

Unfortunately 'egg crate' is only slightly better than 'no cover'... Many fish can jump thru egg crate!

Thanks every1 I'll try not using glass tomorrow. I was worried that salt would creep up on the wood canopy over the tank and possibly the lights. With the glass on I notice salt or something on the T5 reflectors
