Does anyone know how much Rowaphos to use in a 170 total water volume tank? Going to be getting tomorrow but cant find any instructions on the web. On one site it says 90ML per 200 gallons but that seems so low compared to BRS 2 cups of GFO? Anyone explain in simple terms that USE ROWAPHOS

I have a heavy bioload and feed very heavy. I use 1/3 of a 250ml container (140g system) changed every 3 weeks. This stuff is a smaller grain size and stays fluidized with much less flow. Each grain makes better contact with the water compared to heavier gfo like BRS regular stuff. You could always add more, go easy. You will see the difference over regular GFO when you don't have to clean your glass for several days :)

Manifold. Jackson I never have algae on my glass. Takes at least 7 days before i notice yet my no3 and po4 are reading elevated. Figured I would give rowaphos a try and see if the po4 comes down any

If you don't get diatom on your glass in 7 days then you don't need gfo, or you need better lights ;)

Lol. Seriously though, you should be growing diatom on your glass. Never saw a tank that didnt. Whats the egg checker saying po4 is? What is nitrate?

Those are pretty high levels. I don't know how your glass is staying clean for 7 days. Only expiation that I can think of is that your LED don't spread and hit the glass. Your glass should be nasty lol

No it does hit the glass. Im growing montis on the floor right by the glass and my coraline is growing on every part of the glass. I have to scrape every 2 weeks. Its probably high right now because I shut my GFO off 5 days ago

Maybe it has to do with no sand bed. Who knows. I know in my last tank with sand I was cleaning the glass every other day. But I am also using no supplements at all like my old tank. Just mag,alk and cal along with vodka dosing that I started a month ago
