Duke, I'm curious, do you get a slight white film on the glass?

Rich I get that slight white film after about 3-4 days but I was suspecting that was bacteria from too much vinegar in my Kalk ? So I'm cutting back.
Does that sound right?

Yea it's definitely bacteria from your carbon source but is it too much? I guess it depends how things responding. I never really pushed the limits so I don't know when it becomes too much.

Thanks I'm going to cut back slowly and see what happens po4 still not registering on Red Sea kit.

Maybe it has to do with no sand bed. Who knows. I know in my last tank with sand I was cleaning the glass every other day. But I am also using no supplements at all like my old tank. Just mag,alk and cal along with vodka dosing that I started a month ago

How much Vodka u dose?! just curios.

the instructions that come with the 1000g rowa Can says that a 1000g is up to 2000gal of fresh water or 1000 gal of salt water. I use 500g [1/2 a can] for 250 gal per 4 to 5 weeks. I change it when it creeps higher than 0.15 normally like it be at 0.05.

Right now Im up to 4.9mls of vodka. Started just about 6 weeks ago from .07 I believe

Wow this stuff works awesome. Went from .17 to .06 in 3 days at 90mls in a 180 gallons of total water volume
