I showed my cleaning women how to clean and change my filter pads. My girl (shortie) went crazy. She told me that it is not her job to clean my tank. I think that it can be if I want it to be. She is a cleaning women. I also want to put her on mixing water and water changes but I think I am going to hold off on that.

Who is right in this situation? I don't see anything wrong with it.

LOL thats awesome. But........................ IO would not trust her Mixing water and putting her hands in my tank.. or HIM} only cause there around chemicals all day long and Touching everything and then they do a water change and Mess something up ...

that would be the end or his-Her days. :P

If i were you i would just tell her to Straighten up around the Tank, Nothing further. Its your baby and you need to tend for it not a cleaning lady lol. Thats why people hire Tank services for that type of work cause there professionals in that field.

I explained to my house cleaner the first day not to do anything with the tank and not to use any sprays are anything near it.
Got home later that day and she's using my salt mix bucket to mop the floor..
Like Rob said, I would keep her away due to all the chemicals they deal with all day..

OK. I own a housekeeping company so I think I can be the authority on this. Its is absolutely not her or his job to do this sort of work for you. You are asking a person with no training and no understanding of the workings of your tank to clean it for you! Think also from their perspective. What happens if they do something wrong, something dies, there is breakage, etc. They will loose their day work with you. My Maids are warned against doing anything that is not on the approved list or that has not been worked out in advance and that they are comfortable with.
Whats wrong with you man! would u as a mechanic to fix your sink ? A carpenter to work on your water heater? NO you would not so do yourself and your poor maid a favor and hire a aquarium service, a MR member that needs the extra cash, of the kid at the pet store making 7.00 bucks and hour to do it for you. Keep your KARMA intact!

When I was younger I had a live in cleaning women. During the summer I would work at a camp for 1-2 months. She used to do the water changes when I was gone. She was also my partner in doing my normal water changes. It all depends on the cleaning person. I wouldn't let some random person mess with my tanks. I had faith in my cleaning women. Its a judgment call.

If she broke or killed anything I would flip out on her or fire her. I have done it many times. I still have the same cleaning women but she only comes once a week. She prepares my fish food for me. I never even asked her to do it she started to do it on her own. I don't think its much different then when the cleaning person walka a dog or feeds a cat.
