Quieter Return Pump

So right now I have a Sicce Syncra 4 as my return pump and I find that its really noisy. I do find that its way too much power for my tank as well..not sure if that would play a part or not.

So I'm thinking of trying a different pump, any suggestions? I've read some good things about the waveline DC pumps.

Any thoughts?

Also, how do I determine what size of a return pump I really need?

My tank is 48 gallons with a single overflow and return. The return line is roughly 1/2". I also have two MP10's running in the DT.

I am running an eheim, very quiet. Switched to it from reeflo/blowhole pump

Go eheim ....very quiet only downside are the impellers are exspensive to replace

I have to say... I had a mag3 and it broke after 2 months. Went to petco and am so happy with the return pump I bought from them. It is very quiet. Adjustable flow. I know most of us hear the word petco and run the opposite direction, but if you're looking for affordable and quiet give this a shot.

I highly recommend the aqueon quiet flow pump..I have the 3000 (692gph)inexpensive and beyond super quiet!!...my own opinion eheim pumps humm ..mag drive pumps run too hot..quiet flow pumps are unreliable... I used them all and couldn't be any happier with the aqueon pumps
