The next thing I want to buy for my new setup is powerheads. I narrowed it down between Sicce, jebao and ecotech.

I like how the ecotech looks. To set up my tank with ecotechs will be almost $1000 dollars more then the other 2. Does it have a better wave making program? I assume it is less likely to break because it costs more. What are the other advantages? Will my coral grow quicker?

Can the Sicce be programmed to random mode?

What are the main differences between the Sicce and Jeabo?

Out of all 3 which would you choose for a 300 gallon tank? which model and how many?

vortechs are the best. You'll hear lots of people say that vortech and jabeo are the same, but vortech has a much larger span of flow and it pulls water from further away (creating a undertow). I recently had to send my vortech (mp10) in for service and used a jabeo (smallest size) as a temp powerhead. The jabeo created a back and forth motion in the water, but there wasnt much flow in the tank. When I put the vortech back 3 days later, there was a ton of detrius/stuff that the vortech dislodged and a detrius storm happened in the tank. The vortech is way more money, but it is wayyyy better!

I hope that helps.

Rookie which jebao is equal to the smallest ecotech? Are jebao GPH not accurate?

Chris do you use them at the same time? can they link to each other? Jebao now has a wireless system.

How about Sicce powerheads?

What set up do you recommend?
My new tank is a little over 300 gallon. The dimensions are weird. 9 ft long, 3.5 wide and 1.5 deep.

Will ecotechs push the water across the whole tank? Jebao sand go on the back wall. Maybe ecotechs on the sides and jebeos on the back.

Yes I use them at same time, no they link up together.
300 gallon I would consider mp60s or maybe a closed loop system.
My freind has a 450 and has 2 mp 60s

The smallest jabeo is a wp10 or wp25, i forgot which is their smallest. The gph in jabeo are prob right, but gph alone does not fully explain flow amount, size of water coming out of the pump, or the ability to draw water in.
I would prob do a mix of jabeo and vortechs. Vortechs to create the flow in the tank, and jabeo to get any dead spots that are created. With that said, your tank is bugger than anything Ive ever considered so my statement above is from quick thinking not a throughly planned out opinion.

What's a closed loop?

I just ordered 2 ecotechs mp40s for the ends and 2 Jeabos wp60's for the back wall. Does that sound good. Since the jebaos have more push I will aim them towards the filter intakes.

Thanks rookie great explanation. I think you need to change your name to master07.

Shark for a tank that size i would go with the tunze, i love my vortech but on the longer tanks i think tunze works better, not quite as wide of a initial stream but spreads further out and tunze has one of the best customer services hands down, roger is great to deal with

Thanks. Closed loop isn't for me. I closed the holes in the tank. I canceled my order and went with tunzes. I didn't want to have a mix and match tank. The ecotechs look cool but not that cool. I almost became a sucker. What do you think of this?

This is what I got.
2(middle)-Tunze Turbelle Nanostream 6095 Controllable

Tunzes, are great pumps. I am concerned that the 6095 you chose may be a little small for a 300 gallon tank. I run 2x6095 and 2xjebao wp25 in a standard, 4foot 120 gallon tank. What are you keeping as stock in this tank. 9'x3x1.5' tank may need something different

I have owned tunze, jabeo and vortech and nothing comes close to the vortech in my mind. My only complaint with vortwchs is that you can hear them in a quite room if you're within 10'...but that is bc the motor is on the outside. Vortechs look soooo much better bc the cord can be well hidden and it is not in the tank, vortechs help remove more detrius and vortechs don't transfer heat to the tank.
To each their own though. I'm sure you'll be happy in the end. You can always buy used pumps also.
