I got someone fire at petco

I was at the new petco on woodhave ave and they sell saltwater fish and corals. They had 4 yellow tangs in what looked like a 10 gallon tank and 3 maroon clowns With a trigger in a small tank. What got me to the point of calling pita was seeing a lion fish with a fire fish running for his life literally. I had to call the store manager to come over and fix the problem. The kid that was in charged of the fish department had no idea of what he was doing and was told to place fish in a per planed display by corporate. I called corporate the moment I got got of the store and was told that this will be fixed the same day. I later got a call from a so called corporate manager that told me that a team comes out before a the store opens and tell the new workers were to place the fish and the the worker at this store is not doing his job and will be let go. I not happy with this as the kid in the fish department most likely was not trained in saltwater fish.

Which is why those big chain stores shouldn't be selling this livestock.. Can even argue there are LFS's that should be limited as well.. It becomes all business without any respect for life. Also gives our hobby a bad reputation when people see that kind of stuff.

I don't understand they system. Don't understand they thinking. Don't understand why they sell fish. Store like this should only sell supply's. Store like this should sell salt at very good price. They should sell dry goods at a very reasonable price because they can buy by the bulk. But they don't and lately I see less and less supply's. They sell nice Betta's but you think they have them in a Betta's Rack filter system. CEO of Petco should get fined for not taking proper steps to sell Saltwater fish. Yet people still go there and look for deals. I just don't get it. Petco should just sell fish supply's and leave selling fish to LFS.

that kid shouldn't have been let go, I'm sure he was following orders.
its obviously a management problem,because every petco has the same issues.
the kid making min wage has to pay the price for poor management.

i don't see why people buy fish their. the tanks are covered in syano among other issues.

That's a good question, considering all the other types of animals they sell now. You think the people in those departments are trained any better? I'm sure if it goes for one department it goes for the store in whole. They aren't even good at selling dry goods when they have RC salt at $89.99 with 40% and it's still $54 for 200g. They are good in a pinch and that's it and AV is open till 9pm most days.

I don't intend to defend Petco practices in any way. I saw similar things in Brooklyn Petco as well but your first remark about overcrowded tanks is quite common even in well known and well respected LFS. The fish stay in those tanks not for a long time and I just can't imagine the space that would be needed if they have to keep them the same way we keep our fish in home aquariums.

who are you, or any of us to state that any business should lose their right to do business anywhere in the US
if you don't like they way they handle their livestock than by all means dont give them your business.

Never called anyone a racist that didn't merit the title but I believe things should be seen from both points of view in life both from inside and outside the box.

No I wasn't implying that I didn't just stating that I call it as I see it but at times what we are looking at May not be what it seems , I agree with you about the rights to sell and the moral decision to support and not support based on how a person feels about a business.
