I know some of you guys on here still use these filters. Does anyone know how to stop it from leaking at the neck? I bought the unit brand new and has only worked good with a very slow leak once. I've taken it apart cleaned it out and made sure the gasket wasn't out of place or broken.

u may install the top, the wrong way , make sure , the gasket is in right place, lose , all the screws , hold down the top (one hand down), then tide up , one by one ( in cross way) . NOT to tide, i always keep the filter on 5 gal. bucket, just to make sure wont leak. I use one fan to cool the motor.

Been using the diatom for years great piece of equipment ..
Great for polishing and trapping free floating parasites including ick..
If it's leaking a bit ,I noticed that you need to push down a bit more so it sits in place , sometimes the screws on the sides you tighten catch a thread on the jar causing it to leak

Check the o ring, gasket for imperfections and also see if there is a chip on the glass jar that could be causing the slow leak.
