Went to buy some livestock at a lfs I frequent and the guy tells me that he had the wrasse I was looking for outback but I couldn't have it because it was in qt and that I had to wait 3 days ........cute sales gimmick , made me really assume I was being taken care of..........that was a lot of bull because I went back to get my wrasse 3 days later and I went in 2 hrs earlier than I said I would and I just happened to catch this lfs unloading a shipment that had arrived earlier and , not only did he try to trick me with the fish , I saw him putting livestock into the sale tanks without dipping anything or examining his corals and larger pieces for pests or parasites that may infect and cost you thousands in ruined livestock.
I asked the owner if he intended to check his stock better , and his reply was , I can't check everything in the store and that he only bought his coral from a very distinct and healthy well known dealer ! .......what exactly does that mean!? Now I was so aggravated and then his co- worker sent me over the edge .....he totally took the wrasse in question out of the box being real quick with his hands , he goes out back and a few minutes later presents me with the same shipping bag ! The fish obviously had poop all in the bag and it even had the metal staple that most shippers use to seal the bag!!!
So I guess my fish never existed ! It was the busted up looking wrasse that had just arrived !
So the end result .........I said a few choice words and I walked out with my money intact ......poor wrasse probably died by now.
How do you know if a store checks the livestock! ? Is it even worth the risk!
What is this hobby coming to!?
