thinking about running an ozone generator does anyone have experience with one
if so was it to the skimmer or reactor
-safety issues
-results
-tips

please do not post oh get a uv sterilizer or there dangerous you will die(want a thread with good info worth a read for others)
just want feedback from people who are using or used one oh and PICS lol

If your tank is small I would skip the ozone. One mistake or system failure and the whole thing is a ball of fish goo. If you are interested in getting sharks they don't take well to changes in ORP.

Even if you could maintain an in tank level of 250mV or so, you'd have to have a rather large contact chamber and a GREAT destruct chamber to vent it off. The risk of a leak in a house is pretty nasty, too. I set up my ozone unit in separate rooms with many safety precautions taken to minimize damage in case of a problem.

It is a great tool to have if set up right but unnecessary for your average reefer.

I am running a ghl set up. I don't trust the probes or the ghl . If I plug in the power bar the redox changes. They need to be calibrated often and kept clean. I run my ozone in small amounts through the skimmer. Never trust the number . I was going to purchase a apex but they never returned my calls. Poss a apex person running a redox probe can chime in.

I have a 50g total volume tank, and I want to use an ozone generator to raise oxygen levels and pH in my tank. I have a Tunze 9004 skimmer and I have learned that you need to direct both air and water output through activated carbon, but as far as I know the whole bottom of the skimmer is the output. Anyone have ideas how to do this? Is this necessary?

Running the airline to the window is not an option for me.
