I want to make Randy's diy recipe for calcium dosing but can't seem to find the recommended products. Dow flake doesn't seem to be available anywhere local. I'm checking Home Depot/Lowes for Prestone Driveway Heat and it's not available in any store which customer service said may mean they don't carry anymore. They have other options for calcium chloride but I can't find any information on people having used them in reefs before. Any recommendations on where to buy an adequate substitute in Brooklyn?? I'm aware there are online options but would prefer local pickup before I end up ordering anything.

I do it with pedalow from home depot or gas stations the bags with with a little penguin on it think he might be red
Peladow doesn't turn up any results on Home Depot's or Lowe's websites. I tried searching for calcium chloride as well, but still doesn't show up. When is the last time you bought it at Home Depot?
Is this the product you're using? I don't really feel comfortable using a manufacturer that doesn't have a track record with reef tanks.

This is ok. Just dehydrated, and more potent. I only used to bring up cal. Not as a constant dose. Need to use only 20% - 30% less for recipe.
Its just expensive per volume compared IMO.

Lowes and HD are going with cheaper brand names. When I looked up the MSDS for their new stuf it was only 60% calcium chloride. I wouldn't use it.

i find pedalow all around me i live in the bronx by fordham road the hardware store on jerome infront of a elementary school i think ps 33 has alot of them i saw someone friday also my super sometimes sellsme the bags for 20dollers lol its pretty common i see it at alot of gas stations to, if you dont find it and wanna come down i can go verify that they have before you come only thing isthat the bag is big its gonna last you about 2 years lol.

i dont do the recipe anymore i dose the pedalow but by hand depending how much i need i go into google and type in reef calculator then go to the first tab that brings up a chemistry calculator i put in traditional then type in how many gallons i have in my tank where am at where i wanna be at what product and it tells me i havent bought store products for over 15 years. For alk i use baking soda for mag i use epsom salt and for calcium i use pedalow very simple and cheap

Hey Nandez13, I was just at Reimans hardware store on Victory blvd in Staten Island and they have the Prestone driveway heat in the jugs by the front door. Just in case you are out this way you can get It there.

Nandez, try Modesti Logistics in Greenpoint... They usually have a few truckloads of Peladow on hand. Not sure where in BK u are but shoot me a PM if u need help finding some.
